Curriculum

At a Glance

We offer a 12-week course where students will learn everything they need to know to become a qualified dental assistant. Our training includes procedural skills, oral anatomy, morphology and physiology, infection control, radiation health and safety, patient education, and dental office management. At the completion of our 12-week in-class training, students will complete a 40-hour clinical externship in a local dental office and will be prepared to take the National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA®) exam, administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB®). 

 

Our 12-Week Curriculum

Week 1 – Orientation to the Dental Profession
Week 2 – Initial Clinical Orientation
Week 3 – Anatomy, Morphology and Physiology (AMP)
Week 4 – Instrumentation
Week 5 – System Training for Dental Charting, Dentrix, and Office Management
Weeks 6 & 7 – Radiation Health and Safety
Week 8 – Infection Control
Week 9 & 10 – Dental Materials
Week 11 – Advanced Clinical Procedures
Week 12 – Dental Office Emergencies
Externship - hands-on training experience in a local dental office.
